What is the standard formula for CBM and Volumetric Weight?
CBM = Length(cm) × Width(cm) × Height(cm) ÷ 1,000,000. For Express Air, Volumetric Weight (kg) = CBM × 200 (formula: cm³ ÷ 5000). For standard IATA Air Freight, cm³ ÷ 6000 (1 CBM = 167 kg). Chargeable weight is always the greater of actual gross weight or volumetric weight.
How many cartons can safely fit in a 40HQ container in practice?
A 40ft High Cube (40HQ) has a theoretical internal volume of 76.2 CBM (ISO 668). This simulator applies realistic packing efficiency — 85% for floor-loaded cartons and 78% for palletized cargo — which gives roughly 64.8 usable CBM loose-loaded (76.2 × 0.85) or 59.4 CBM palletized (76.2 × 0.78) before weight limits apply.
